How to Install Ms Access 2016 in Windows 10

  1. Home
  2. Windows
  3. Windows 10

I'd be pulling my hair out if I had any left. I just replaced the HDD in a user's machine. Got it all set up, joined to the domain, etc. For the life of me I cannot get Office to install. I've tried 2010 and 2016 with the same result. It starts to install and then just says Microsoft Office Encounter an Error and Failed to Install. Same error on both 2010 and 2016.

I downloaded a fresh copy of the ISO from the VLSC and when I ran that I got an error that a DLL file couldn't be found and it asks me to browse to the installation media. When I do so it cannot find the fine and cancels the installation.

I have run sfc /scannow and no issues there.

I am thoroughly confused, any ideas Spiceheads?

Could be some corruption.  I would do this before wasting more time trying to fix things.  Wipe, install, then install Office right away, before anything else.  That eliminate the chance of some other step causing the problem.

How did you do the initial OS installation?  OEM media?  VL media?

What DLL error? Can you post the specific issue?

Have you verified both your OS Image and your office image?

Selfstudy is an IT service provider.

Make sure to uninstall Get Office application. Also 2016 does not mix well with any other version.

And whatever else Office related is installed. A lot of times OEM images will have Get Office and a trial version of O365 installed.

Also, knowing the exact DLL would be pretty helpful.

OS installation was with the latest VL version of WIn10 off of a USB drive.

I'm now getting the same error on the ISO as with the existing images I use (have used these for over a year no problem)

Tried logged in as domain admin and local admin

Have tried deleting the Office folder in scheduled tasks as recommended on MS website

Have used the MS tool to remove all traces of all versions of Office

Stumped. About to format/reinstall the machine.

Any errors in Event log that you can see?

What group policies is it subject to?  The way some of ours work to keep ransomware at bay also cause Office installs to fail.  I basically move it out of the GPO group momentarily, reboot, or run gpupdate /force , then run the install.  Upon completion I move the computer back into the appropriate GPO.
